A personal project over 7 months to design characters for a fantasy gacha game. My plan was to design a male and female for each element/faction along with their weapon, and have variation of classes.
I've put them in order of completion, and looking back, I'm very tempted to redesign the fire characters, especially their weapons. I think the halfway point was when I considered weapon design more seriously. In fact, there are many things I'm not totally satisfied with, but I will leave them as they are to appreciate the growth.
Overall, the aesthetic could be more cohesive. It is definitely beneficial to work with a team to find and remedy discrepancies in design. These are not even asset illustrations--just production designs. I tried to put some flair in the front view while still keeping the design visible; the result feels too stiff to be character art but too dynamic to be strictly reference.
That is not to say I'm not proud of these! I learned so much about design and different cultures I would not have otherwise studied. It was a valuable project. Thank you to @xethgnur for pushing and supporting me!
